Il Pellegrinaggio Nazionale Summorum Pontificum per il restauro della Messa Tradizionale in latino inizierà presso la Cattedrale di San Thomas More, Arlingto n, VA, e terminerà alla Cattedrale di San Matteo Apostolo, Washington, DC, una distanza di circa 5 miglia (durata prevista 2 ore).
La data è stata scelta sia perché sabato 17 settembre 2022 è il sabato più vicino al 15° anniversario dall'entrata in vigore del Summorum Pontificum, il motu proprio di Papa Benedetto XVI che ha liberalizzato la Messa Tradizionale in latino per ogni Cetus Cattolico di rito tradizionale, e perché le restrizioni nelle due diocesi entrano in vigore a settembre (l'8 per Arlington, il 21 per DC). In risposta alle crudeli e ingiuste restrizioni imposte alla celebrazione dell'usus antiquior nell'arcidiocesi di Washington e nella diocesi di Arlington, nonché in molti altri luoghi del mondo, andremo in pellegrinaggio in un atto pubblico di dolore per la distruzione del patrimonio liturgico occidentale, e a sostegno del suo pieno ed immediato restauro.

RispondiEliminaNewly elevated Cardinal Arthur Roche, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, deflected the issue, insisting that the restrictions of the Latin Church’s ancient liturgy were not his but the Pope’s. When the cardinals responsible for the Synod on Synodality were asked about including traditional Catholics in the synodal process, they insisted that all members of the Church must be listened to but did not offer any concrete steps to assure that this would in fact happen.
After the creation of 21 new cardinals on Saturday at St. Peter’s Basilica, LifeSiteNews approached Cardinal Roche to communicate to him the distress of traditional Catholics who love the Church’s ancient Latin liturgy. Speaking on behalf of traditional Catholics, especially those in the Washington, D.C.-Arlington area, LifeSite requested that the cardinal consider lifting his restrictions on the Traditional Latin Mass. Roche deflected responsibility, saying they were not his restrictions but the Pope’s.
“That’s true, but they come through your office,” he was told in reply. “On behalf of those who love the Latin Mass … many of whom are young with young children and families, I ask that you at least consider lifting these restrictions.” The cardinal did not respond to the request.
